The cluster is in the Carnic Prealps, in a narrow mountain valley cut by the Meduna river and surrounded by forested slopes and ridges. It lies inside the Friulian Dolomites Regional Natural Park, the protected mountain area around the upper Meduna and Tagliamento valleys. Lago di Redona and the Vajont reservoir are the main nearby bodies of water in the valley system. The nearest ski lifts are the small Forni di Sopra area, roughly an hour away by mountain roads, so skiing is not part of the immediate setting. The nearest town of some size is Maniago, which has the main services for this part of the upper Pordenone area. The area is known for mountain hamlets, woodland, hydroelectric reservoirs and access to the wilder valleys of the Friulian Dolomites.
