This is the Friulian plain between the Tagliamento and the lower reaches of the Meduna, with flat agricultural land, drainage channels and scattered villages. The Tagliamento river is the main natural feature nearby, with a broad stony riverbed and embanked sections around San Vito al Tagliamento. San Vito al Tagliamento itself is the nearest town of size, with a preserved walled historic centre, arcaded streets and a medieval layout around the old castle area. The area is known for agriculture on the fertile plain and for being one of the historic small centres of western Friuli.
