Location score 72/100Venosa sits on the volcanic plateau of Monte Vulture, with low tuff hills and cultivated countryside around the town. The Ofanto river basin lies nearby. The Vulture area is known for volcanic soils, Aglianico del Vulture vineyards and olive groves. Monticchio Lakes and the Monte Vulture massif are within about 15 km, and the Vulture Regional Natural Park covers part of this landscape. Venosa itself has a substantial historic centre with the Roman remains of ancient Venusia, the Abbey of the Santissima Trinità and the unfinished church beside it, and it is known as the birthplace of the poet Horace.
