Location score 71/100The cluster sits in the southern Apennines, with the Lucanian Apennine ridges around Lauria and the massif of Monte Sirino nearby. The Noce valley is part of the local landscape, and the Tyrrhenian coast around Maratea is close enough to matter for daily life but is outside the immediate inland setting. The area is near the Appennino Lucano sector and not far from the Pollino mountain system, with the Pollino National Park within the wider surrounding area. The nearest ski lifts are on Monte Sirino, roughly half an hour by road from Lauria. Lauria itself is a small inland centre with a historic upper town, and Lagonegro is the other nearby service town on the A2 corridor. This part of Basilicata is known for mountain landscapes, chestnut and beech woods, and as the inland gateway between the Tyrrhenian side and the Lucanian interior.
