The Reno river runs nearby, and the Valli di Comacchio and other wetland areas of the Po Delta are the main natural feature in the wider surroundings. Ravenna is the nearest city of size, with full services and the well-known early Christian monuments including UNESCO sites, but those monuments are outside the immediate landscape of the cluster. The area is known for intensive farming and reclaimed lowland.
