The cluster sits in the first Apennine hills above the Lamone valley. Brisighella is a hill town with a medieval centre, the Rocca Manfrediana and Monticino, and it is listed among I Borghi più belli d'Italia. The Vena del Gesso Romagnola, a long gypsum ridge with cliffs, caves and badlands, runs through this area and is included in the Parco regionale della Vena del Gesso Romagnola; this gypsum landscape is part of the UNESCO listing The Evaporitic Karst and Caves of Northern Apennines. Faenza is the nearest larger town, with full services and rail connections, and the area is known for olive oil, vineyards and spa activity at nearby Riolo Terme.
