The cluster sits in the Valmarecchia hills under the first ridges of the northern Apennines. The Marecchia valley is the main landscape feature here, with wooded slopes, cultivated hilltops and a sequence of fortified hill towns nearby. The area is close to the Sasso Simone e Simoncello Regional Park, which covers part of the upland ridge zone south-west of Talamello. Montefeltro is the historic landscape around it, known for hilltop villages, pasture and woodland. Novafeltria is the nearest town of size and has the valley’s main everyday services. San Leo is nearby, with its fortress on a detached rock and membership of I Borghi più belli d’Italia. Pennabilli is also nearby and has Bandiera Arancione status. The nearest Adriatic resorts and Rimini are relevant for services and transport but are outside the immediate landscape and do not define the score.
