This is the Po Delta landscape, with flat reclaimed land cut by branches of the Po and drainage canals; the Po di Goro and Po di Venezia are the defining waterways in this part of the delta. The cluster lies in or beside the Parco regionale veneto del Delta del Po, with lagoons, reed beds, embankments and fishing valleys within the local area. The Adriatic coast is close here, with the barrier island system and the Bocche del Po shaping the immediate surroundings rather than an open urban shoreline. The nearest town of some size is Adria, which has everyday services and rail connections. The wider area is known for fishing, shellfish, rice and other reclaimed-delta agriculture, and for bird habitats in the wetlands.
