The cluster lies in the Anglona hills of northern Sardinia, with low volcanic and limestone relief rather than high mountains. The Coghinas river valley is nearby, and the coast of the Gulf of Asinara is about 15 km away with beaches around Valledoria and Badesi just beyond that radius. Lake Coghinas is also nearby to the south-west. Perfugas has a small historic centre and is known locally for the Romanesque basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli and for prehistoric sites in the surrounding countryside, including the domus de janas of S'Incantu. The nearest larger town is Tempio Pausania inland and Sassari farther west for broader services.
