The Riu Mannu di Porto Torres drainage runs through this part of north-west Sardinia. Within about 15 km is the volcanic cone of Monte Santo near Siligo, one of the distinct landforms of the district. Bosa is the nearest coast in practical terms beyond the local radius, and Alghero and Sassari are the nearest larger urban centres for services, hospitals and rail links.
