Tirano is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic centre, rail links including the Bernina line into Switzerland, and the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Tirano. The Bernina Pass road and the Swiss border are close by, which makes this a transit valley with strong alpine scenery.
