Rustico in Spriana

The cluster sits in the Valtellina, with the Rhaetian Alps to the north and the Bergamasque Alps to the south. The Adda runs through the valley floor here. The Orobie Valtellinesi Regional Park lies immediately south of Sondrio, and the Bernina range is visible further up the valley. The nearest ski areas are on the Aprica side at about 30 minutes by road and in Valmalenco at about 25–40 minutes depending on the lift base. Sondrio is the main town of the middle Valtellina and has the full range of everyday services, a rail terminus, schools and hospitals. The area is known for terraced vineyards producing Valtellina wines, with stone villages and vineyard walls on the sunny slope above the valley.
