The cluster sits in the Valtellina with the Orobie Alps immediately to the south and the Rhaetian Alps on the opposite side of the valley. The Adda runs along the valley floor. Much of the mountainside above Albosaggia is inside the Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi. The nearest town of size is Sondrio, which has the province’s main services and a substantial historic centre. The area is known for terraced vineyards on the Valtellina slopes and for mountain valleys opening toward the Bernina and Stelvio sectors farther east.
