The Adda runs along the floor of the Valtellina below the slopes. The area is part of the terraced viticulture zone of the central Valtellina, known for Nebbiolo-based Valtellina wines grown on dry-stone terraces. Sondrio is the nearest town of size and has the main services, rail connections and a historic centre. The Bernina range and the upper Valtellina are farther up the valley, and the nearest major ski areas are around Chiesa in Valmalenco and Aprica, reached by mountain road drives rather than being at the door.
