Much of the surrounding mountain area falls within the Julian Prealps Regional Natural Park. The nearest ski lifts are around Sella Nevea, roughly 20 minutes by road, with the Kanin and Montasio group nearby. Tarvisio is the nearest town of size, with rail services, shops and everyday services. The area is known for alpine valleys, mixed Italian-Slovene border culture, and access toward the Raccolana valley and the Montasio massif.
