This is the lower Friulian plain between the Tagliamento and Stella river systems, with flat agricultural land, drainage canals and scattered villages. The Laguna di Marano lies within about 15 km to the south, with fishing settlements and wetlands on the inland edge of the Adriatic lagoon. Lignano Sabbiadoro is the nearest large seaside centre, with beaches, marinas and seasonal services, but it is outside the immediate landscape. The nearest larger towns are Latisana and Codroipo, which provide rail links, shops and everyday services. The area is known for mixed farming and the lagoon zone rather than for a singular landmark.
