The Torre valley and the first wooded hills rise within a few kilometres, with the Natisone and Torre river areas shaping the local landscape. The nearest substantial town is Udine, which has a full range of services, a historic centre, and rail connections. Cividale del Friuli is also close by; it is a UNESCO-listed Lombard town on the Natisone and is one of the main historic destinations in this part of Friuli.
