Lake Garda lies immediately below on the western side of the mountain, with the nearest lakeshore around Malcesine and Brenzone. The Parco Naturale Locale del Monte Baldo covers much of this mountain environment. The Prada-Costabella lifts are the nearest ski lifts, on the Baldo side above San Zeno di Montagna, a short drive away. Malcesine is the nearest town of size on the lake and has the Scaliger castle, ferry connections and the Monte Baldo cable car. The area is known for mountain pasture, chestnut and beech woodland, and for Monte Baldo’s botanical richness.
