The nearest town of some size is Locri on the Ionian coast, which has everyday services and rail connections; Reggio Calabria is farther away and matters more for higher-order services. This stretch of Calabria is known for bergamot in the wider Reggio area and for abandoned hill villages and fiumara landscapes along the lower Aspromonte.
