The nearest larger town is Sassuolo, which has full daily services and a substantial urban-industrial belt. Farther south the Modenese and Reggiano Apennines rise toward the main ridge, but the higher mountain scenery is outside the immediate area. This part of Emilia is known for ceramics and for the transition from plain to foothill countryside.
