Cascina in Oviglio

This is the Bormida plain around Alessandria, with flat cultivated land and low hills beginning a few kilometres away toward the Monferrato and Langhe side of the province. The Bormida river runs through the area and joins the Tanaro nearby, with a landscape of river plain, fields, poplar lines and scattered villages. Acqui Terme is the nearest town of note, with a historic centre and thermal baths. The wider area is known for wine hills once you move farther south and east, but at this point the immediate surroundings are mainly plain and mixed agricultural land.
