Casale in Carunchio

The area is in the hills of the upper Trigno basin, with the Apennine foothills rising inland toward the Abruzzo-Molise border. The Trigno valley is the main landscape feature within reach. The nearest larger centres are Vasto on the coast and San Salvo, which provide the main services, rail access and larger retail. This part of inland southern Abruzzo is known for small hill villages, mixed farmland and olive growing, with woodland on the higher ground.
