The cluster lies on the Hyblaean plateau inland from Siracusa, in a landscape of low limestone tableland cut by dry valleys and cultivated with citrus, olives and arable fields. The Anapo and Ciane river area and the Riserva Naturale Orientata Cavagrande del Cassibile are within the wider surroundings of this part of inland Siracusa province, though not all points around Floridia sit directly inside those gorges. Siracusa is the nearest city of size and has major historic fabric including Ortigia and the archaeological park. This area is known for Hyblaean limestone countryside and for agriculture linked to the Siracusa plain, especially citrus.
