The Gulf of Orosei is on the nearby east coast, with the beaches and cliffs of Cala Gonone in the same comune and the coastal stretch of Cala Luna among the known natural features of this part of Sardinia. Much of the mountain and coastal landscape here falls within the Parco Nazionale del Golfo di Orosei e del Gennargentu framework and the local protected territory around the gulf. Dorgali is the main small town for the area, with a historic centre, everyday services and access to the coast at Cala Gonone.
