The cluster sits on the low pre-coastal hills of Teramo province overlooking the Adriatic coastal plain; the Adriatic shoreline with towns such as Pineto, Silvi Marina and Giulianova is within the local landscape. Atri, a nearby historic hill town with a cathedral and an old centre, lies a few kilometres to the north-east. Teramo is the nearest city of size and provides provincial administrative services, larger shops, a hospital and rail connections. Land use in the immediate area is a mix of arable fields, olive groves and vineyards on the hills, with tourism-oriented beaches and a coastal pinewood at Pineto on the seafront. No national park is inside a 15 km radius; the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga national park and its ski lifts lie farther inland.
