The cluster sits on low hills above the Adriatic coastal plain with the central Apennines visible to the west. The Adriatic coastline with beaches and railway stations at Giulianova and Roseto degli Abruzzi lies to the east on the plain. Teramo, the provincial capital, is the nearest city with a hospital, provincial administration and larger shops. Surrounding land is mixed small-scale agriculture: vineyards, olive groves and arable fields with scattered hilltop villages. Ski resorts on the Gran Sasso massif are inland and require roughly an hour's drive from the coast.
