Montefino - contrada Case sparse

The site lies in the low rolling hills of the Teramo hinterland, with a landscape of small agricultural ridges and valleys rather than high mountains. Land use within about 15 km is a patchwork of olive groves, vineyards, arable fields and small woodlands, served by narrow provincial roads. There are local streams and modest valley incisions but no large river or lake in the immediate area. No national or regional park or UNESCO designation sits within the 15 km radius. There are no ski lifts or alpine resorts in the immediate surroundings; the Apennine high peaks lie further inland. The nearest significant urban centre is the city of Teramo, which provides a provincial hospital, secondary schools and rail connections; coastal towns and beaches on the Adriatic lie to the east but are outside the immediate 15 km landscape.
