The area lies on the low hills between the Adriatic coastal plain and the Gran Sasso–Laga Apennines. The Salinello and Tordino river valleys shape this part of the Teramo countryside, with cultivated ridges, olive groves and scattered villages. The nearest stretch of coast is the Adriatic around Giulianova, with sandy beaches and a fishing port. To the west, the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga massifs are the dominant mountain backdrop for the province, but they are outside the immediate 15 km landscape. Teramo is the nearest town of size, with a cathedral, Roman remains and the main services of the provincial capital. This part of northern Abruzzo is known for mixed hill farming, olive oil and access between coast and interior.
