Ski infrastructure for major high-altitude skiing is concentrated in Cortina d'Ampezzo to the north-east, while the Cadore valleys contain smaller local downhill and cross-country facilities. The area is in the mountainous Belluno province and is economically linked to mountain tourism, timber and alpine pastoral land use.
