The cluster sits in the lower Piedmont plain around the Orba valley, with the Bormida valley also nearby. This is mixed agricultural country between Alessandria, Novi Ligure and Ovada, with fields, scattered farmhouses and low hills starting farther south toward the Ligurian Apennines. The nearest town of size is Alessandria, which has the main rail and road services of the province, while Novi Ligure is another practical centre nearby. The wider area is known for wine zones and for the approach to the hills of the Ovadese, but within the immediate radius around Predosa the landscape is mainly ordinary lowland countryside.
