The nearest town of size is Grosseto, the provincial capital, which provides a train station on the Pisa–Rome (Tirrenica) line, larger shops, services and the Ospedale Misericordia. There is no national park inside the 15 km radius; the Parco della Maremma and the Uccellina hills lie further along the coast. The area is part of the broader Maremma agricultural and historical landscape, with nearby medieval villages and farm estates.
