The area sits on the south coast of Sicily with low marl and limestone hills falling toward the Strait of Sicily. The nearest coast is the Marina di Palma stretch, with sandy beaches and low cliffs. The Palma di Montechiaro countryside is agricultural, with olive groves, almond orchards and open cereal fields. Licata is the nearest larger coastal town in daily use, with a port, services and rail connections. Agrigento is the nearest major historic centre, farther west, with the Valley of the Temples UNESCO site, but that is outside the immediate 15 km landscape.
