This is Monferrato hill country, with vineyard slopes, mixed farmland and small ridgelines around the village. The nearest river landscape of note is the Tanaro valley, a few kilometres away. Asti is the nearest larger town, with full services, rail connections and a substantial historic centre. This part of Monferrato is known for wine, especially Barbera and other Astigiano and Monferrato denominations. Parts of the wider Monferrato wine landscape in the Asti area have UNESCO recognition as the Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero and Monferrato.
