The area sits in the Tanaro valley between the Monferrato and Langhe hill country, with mixed vineyards, fields and wooded low hills around the river. The Tanaro runs by Rocchetta Tanaro, and the Rocchetta Tanaro Natural Park protects a belt of riparian woodland and hills near the village. Asti is the nearest larger town, with rail services, shops and the main urban services of the province. This part of the Astigiano is known for wine landscapes and vineyard agriculture, though the most famous UNESCO core areas of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato are not centered here.
