The cluster is in the Irpinian hill country at the foot of the Monti Picentini. The Sabato valley runs through the area, and the Monti Picentini Regional Park begins nearby to the east with wooded ridges and higher inland relief. Avellino is the nearest town of size, with the usual provincial-city services, rail and road links, and a historic centre rebuilt after the 1980 earthquake. The area is known for hazelnuts, chestnuts and the wines of inland Campania, including the Taurasi and Fiano zone to the east and south-east.
