The cluster is in the lower Seriana Valley at the foot of the Bergamasque Prealps. The Vertova stream cuts a narrow gorge just above the village, known as the Orrido di Vertova. The Serio river runs down the valley nearby. The Orobie Bergamasche Regional Park lies a short distance up-valley, with the main Orobie ridges and hiking terrain within the local mountain backdrop. The nearest ski areas are the small Orobie resorts such as Spiazzi di Gromo and Lizzola, roughly around an hour by road depending on conditions. The nearest town of size is Bergamo, with a full city centre, rail station, hospitals and services. This part of the valley is known for prealpine hiking, wooded slopes and small industrial settlements along the valley floor.
