The area is in the rolling inland hills between the lower Sangro valley and the Adriatic side of Abruzzo. The Sangro river system is the main named landscape feature nearby, with mixed farmland, olive groves and scattered hill settlements around Atessa. The Maiella massif rises to the west but it is outside the immediate 15 km landscape. The nearest larger centre is Lanciano, which has a substantial historic centre, services and rail access toward the coast. This part of the province is known for olive growing, vineyards and hilltop towns tied to the Sangro valley.
