The area sits on the lower hills between the Foro and Alento valleys, with the Maiella massif visible inland and the Adriatic coast at Francavilla al Mare and Ortona about 10–15 km away. The nearest larger town is Chieti, which has a substantial historic centre, services and the university; Pescara is also close for shopping, rail links and the airport, but outside the immediate landscape. Inland, the Maiella National Park begins farther into the mountains beyond the 15 km radius. This part of coastal Abruzzo is known for vineyards and olive groves, with Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wine widely produced in the surrounding countryside.
