The cluster sits at the mouth of the Valle Maira, with the Cottian Alps immediately to the west and the first alpine relief rising within a few kilometres. The Maira river runs through this area. The Riserva naturale dei Ciciu del Villar is in the comune, with its erosion columns at the base of Monte San Bernardo. Dronero is the nearest town of size and has the valley’s main services and a substantial historic centre. Cuneo is the nearest larger city for full urban services. The area is known for the entrance to the Maira valley and for the Ciciu rock formations.
