This is the lower Po plain between Ferrara and Cento, with flat agricultural land, drainage canals and scattered roadside villages. The Reno river runs through the municipality and the Po di Volano is nearby in the wider plain. Ferrara is the nearest city of size, with a complete historic centre and UNESCO status for the Este city and the Po Delta cultural landscape. The area is known for arable farming in reclaimed lowland.
