This is the flat lower Po plain, with fields, drainage canals and scattered settlements around the old course of the Po di Volano. Ferrara is the nearest city of size and has a complete historic centre with major services and UNESCO status as the city of the Este and part of the Ferrara, City of the Renaissance and its Po Delta landscape listing. The area is known for agriculture, especially fruit growing, and for Delizia di Belriguardo at Voghiera, an Este residence.
