The nearest ski lifts are the small Abetone area, roughly 1 hour 30 minutes away by road, so they are not part of the immediate setting. Pietrasanta is the nearest town of size, with a substantial historic centre and services, and Viareggio and Lucca are the larger nearby urban centres for daily needs. Medicean sites at Seravezza form part of the UNESCO World Heritage listing for the Medici Villas and Gardens of Tuscany. This area is known for marble quarries, the foothills of the Apuan Alps, and the transition from mountain valleys to the Versilia coast.
