Wiring, water and sanitary work of any kind, heating, air conditioning and gas go to a registered firm by law, and so do flues and the air openings for gas appliances. That labour stays in the bill. Yours is the stripping out, plaster, paint, floors, tiling and carpentry.

The nearest larger centre is Soverato on the Ionian side, which provides a fuller range of shops, services and rail connections. This part of the Serre is known for chestnut and beech woods, small inland hill towns, and the Certosa di Serra San Bruno area farther north in the same mountain district.
