Catanzaro is the nearest town of size and has the full services of a provincial capital, including a historic centre on the hill and newer districts spreading across the surrounding slopes. This part of Calabria is known for hill-to-coast terrain and olive-growing, but within the immediate radius it is mainly an urban and peri-urban setting rather than a distinct named landscape.
