The nearest ski area is Prato della Cipolla on Monte Bue, roughly half an hour by road from Ferriere. Bobbio is the nearest small historic town of note in the valley, with services and a well-preserved old centre. This part of the Piacentine Apennines is known for summer walking, mushroom gathering and mountain roads rather than for a major protected landscape or a nationally famous monument within the immediate area.
