Orvieto's medieval historic centre and the Duomo di Orvieto are in the town itself; there is an extensive network of Etruscan-era underground tunnels and nearby Etruscan necropoleis. The surrounding territory includes vineyards and olive groves that belong to the Orvieto Classico DOC wine area. The low plain below the hill contains Orvieto Scalo and the A1 autostrada exit and railway line that link the town to Rome and Florence. A regional natural area, the Monte Peglia and Selva di Meana reserve, is on the nearby ridge. There are no ski lifts within the local 15 km radius.
