Casale in Vibonati

The cluster is in the Gulf of Policastro on the Tyrrhenian coast, with low coastal hills at the foot of the southern Campanian Apennines. The coast here alternates between sandy stretches and rocky sections around Villammare, Sapri and Policastro Bussentino. The Bussento river reaches the sea nearby at Policastro Bussentino. The area falls within the Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni National Park. Sapri is the nearest town of size, with a seafront, marina, rail station and everyday services. Maratea and the first Tyrrhenian slopes of Basilicata are close to the south, but outside the immediate radius. Cilento is known for its protected coast, olive groves and hill villages.
