Tornimparte - Piè la Costa: casale con terreno

The cluster sits in the central Apennine foothills of inland Abruzzo; the local terrain within ~15 km is hilly to mountainous with mixed farmland, pasture and stretches of oak and beech woodland. The area is rural with dispersed small villages and agricultural land rather than a single dominant landscape feature. There is no named lake or coastline inside the 15 km radius. The Gran Sasso massif and the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park are in the province but are outside the immediate 15 km circle and therefore not the cluster's primary landscape. There are no major ski lifts within 15 km; the better-known ski areas for the province (Campo Felice / Campo Imperatore) lie farther away. The nearest town of size is the provincial capital L'Aquila, which provides university facilities, a regional hospital and larger shops and cultural sites; Avezzano is another nearby larger town with rail connections toward Rome and Pescara. The area does not hold a UNESCO or nationally famous protected cultural-landscape designation within the immediate vicinity.
