The Noncello river system and the Meduna-Cella alluvial area are the main local water features around Cordenons and Pordenone. Pordenone is the nearest town of size and has a substantial historic centre, rail services, hospitals and the main everyday services for the area. Within about 15 km the setting is mostly settled plain, fields, roads and the urban edge of Pordenone rather than a distinct named landscape. Piancavallo, the nearest ski lifts, is in the Prealps at roughly 35 km and about 45-50 minutes by road, but it lies outside the immediate area. The wider area is known for agriculture and for the industrial and service belt of western Friuli.
