The Ionian coast is outside the immediate 15 km radius, but the Vendicari wetlands and beaches are part of the wider area south-east of Noto. Noto is the nearest town of size and has a large Baroque historic centre rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake; the Val di Noto late-Baroque towns are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is known for Baroque townscapes, limestone canyon country, and almond and olive cultivation.
